KVKL, member of CEPI/EPAG

Lisätietoja

The European Council of Real Estate Professions CEPI accepted the Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies KVKL as its new affiliated organization at its general assembly held in Gent, Belgium. The membership will be effective as of 1 January 2009.

“This is a highly important decision for us. CEPI will give us access to a forum that is truly at the heart of European developments. We intend to be active in this new role and wish to bring the views of the Finnish real estate professionals to the attention of European players”, says Mr Jukka Malila, CEO of the Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies KVKL.

A key mission for CEPI is to create common standards for property management and real estate brokerage in Europe. Another important objective is to develop common training systems and professional qualifications across borders.

EU legislation and regulations are having an increasingly far-reaching impact on the entire real estate sector. A case in point is the directives concerning the energy consumption of buildings.

The real estate industry will also be increasing affected by the free mobility of people, labour, services and capital. Cross-border property business is growing. The industry must be actively involved in this process to secure orderly development.

CEPI’s extensive mandate in Europe

The European Council of Real Estate Professions CEPI represents over 200,000 real estate professionals. CEPI consists of two organizations, the European Confederation of Property Managers CEAB, and the European Property Agents Group EPAG.

CEPI has more than 40 organizations in 27 countries as its members, including EU Member States and countries like Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, and Russia. CEPI is based in Brussels, Belgium. In Finland, CEPI’s largest affiliated organization in the property management sector is the Finnish Real Estate Management Federation. As of January 2009, the Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies KVKL will assume the position previously held by the Finnish Association of Real Estate Agents SKVL. When SKVL last spring joined the newly established Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies, it was agreed that the Central Federation will assume responsibility for advocating the interests of the entire Finnish real estate brokerage sector on a broad front. One of its new duties is international activities. Organized under the auspices of the new Federation, international activities will benefit all members of the Federation that currently account for 75% of Finnish real estate agencies.
