The Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies (KVKL) is the nationwide advocacy and umbrella organization for the real estate brokerage industry in Finland

The Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies (KVKL), the nationwide advocacy and umbrella organization for companies and associations engaged in the real estate brokerage business in Finland, looks after the interests of its members and seeks to wield influence in order to attain the common goals. 

The new umbrella organization was created when the major players in the field, namely Realia Group, Kiinteistömaailma, OP-Pohjola Group Central Cooperative, and the Finnish Association of Real Estate Agents (SKVL), founded the Federation on 18 March 2008.  The membership of the Federation comprises the said four groups that together employ a total of over 3,000 real estate professionals. Consequently, the Federation represents approx. 75 per cent of professional real estate agents in Finland.

The Chairman of the Board is Mr Markku Välimäki, Regional Director of Kiinteistömaailma. Managing Director and CEO of KVKL is Mr Jukka Malila, former Managing Director and CEO of SKVL.

The goals of the Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies are to promote and develop research and training in the real estate brokerage industry and to further related ethical and legal regulation. Additionally, the Federation promotes projects designed to ensure a higher standard of competence of agents, increase the quality of the services offered by the agencies, and guarantee compliance with good real estate brokerage practice and, consequently, safer housing transactions in Finland.

Fields of activity:

The Federation serves as an umbrella organization for, and representative of, the real estate brokerage industry on the national level.  Its fields of activity are:

• Development of professional procedures in the industry;
• Enhancement of the standard of training;
• Improvement of the operating conditions of the industry (e.g. by issuing opinions on legislative matters);
• Cooperation in research;
• International activities.

The Federation’s primary goals include:

• Attainment of a higher standard of professional competence in the brokerage industry:

Creation of clearer and more transparent ground rules for the industry;

• Compliance with good real estate brokerage practice.

While seeking to attain these goals, the Federation also looks after the interests of clients and increases the transparency of housing transactions, thereby contributing to greater security in these matters.

The Federation’s view of the real estate brokerage business:

Real estate brokerage is a trust-based expert service designed to secure safe housing transactions for and on behalf of the customers. Success in the profession calls for diverse customer service skills, a high standard of professional competence and compliance with a strict code of conduct.
Accordingly, the Central Federation of Finnish Real Estate Agencies is tasked to promote developments in its operating environment, at companies and among members that help reinforce and attain this vision: the real estate brokerage sector is called upon to shape its own future!
